Favorite load 17.5 gr of 700X, Claybuster 12SO wad, Winchester 209 in AA hull; pressure in mid 7's and running near 1200. shot410ga. A few years ago I decided to try 7/8 oz, loads so I merely changed to a CB0178-12 wad and a 7/8 oz. charge bar, and loaded away. I was astonished at the performance of that load, as well as the very noticeable reduction in recoil. In my 3/4 oz. 12 gauge loads I use the AA-HS or any Remington hull; 16.9 grains of Promo from a MEC No. 29 bushing; Claybuster's CB0178-12 clone of the WAA12L wad; either Fiocchi or NobelSport primers. Great load, which will break targets easily out to about 30 yards.The AAHS/Longshot loads listed are at or near SAAMI max pressure with the wads they list. I hadn't planned on it. SAAMI max is 12,000psi. According to the Hodgdon website: AAHS, 1oz shot, 15.7gr of Longshot with Win209 is 1,165fps at 10,900psi. You should load 3/4 oz 12 ga using the 3/4 oz wad provided by Claybuster. The bag of wads contains a paper inside it with load data using Extra-Lite, 700x, and Red Dot, as well as other powders. I see better uniformity in the patterns and more consistent crimps with good old Red Dot than with the CB0178-12L.
