The cruiser went in today for oil seal work but has bigger problems. The transfer output bearing is rattling around, there is metal wrapped around the speedo drive and the oil is heavily contaminated with Bronze. Installed the oiler cup and front case half: Stuffed the gears: Used a thin schmear of gear-oil RTV on both sides of gasket, and carefully mated the cases. I used some sticky gasket spray to hold the rear thrust washer on. I should note that I restored this Land Cruiser to be a family car / show rig and not a trial rig. So 1st gear ratio's discussions are pointless for me but the overdrive reduction of the NV4500 .77 vs the H55F .845 is attractive. But as a show car and for collectors value I wonder if the H55F transmission has a greater value then a NV4500.The 75 series all had H55f until 98 when the 78/79 series was released. The pre 1990 3F and 2H H55f gearbox were the same although they had their own bell housing. I would say the 92 model 3F would also have the earlier 11 spline (or is it 10 spline) gearbox These are swappable with 60 series of the same type and yearFeb 1, 2021. #4.
