Check with the dealers and see when Vermeer's winter discounts begin. When I was baler shopping Vermeer offered a $1500 discount from January until march. One dealer I visited told me if I bought during the off season I would get a $750 discount.The bale spears are CONUS 3's (4400lb rating each) which are available through FEMA BALE SPEARS in Mephis TN. I cut with a disc mower and usually follow right behind with a tedder. Even without a conditioner I can get hay ready in 2 days with perfect conditions, 3 days even if less than optimal conditions. The 4440 has the reflective on the sides and about 12 inches down the back. Neither one is to bothersome at night and really helps with cooling when it's a 110 degrees out, when baling. If your hitch linkage is loose, you may overcome that with a check chain from the top link bracket down the the left lower hitch pin.
