I have had good luck using 3M Hi-Strength 90 Spray Adhesive. I went through the whole list of other adhesives like other brands, 3M 77, water based, brushed on etc. with mostly poor results. The 90 seems to hold up the best in the high heat areas. Naturally what you spray it on makes a difference too. Like is it painted, old glue, metal, …I'd suggest taking the fabric off just because if you leave it on some things may not fit over it right if you use a thicker fabric-the trim around the headliner for example. I used 3m 77 and it'd held up, but more wouldn't hurt. Just be sure to remove the old foam from the headliner mold, spray a good coat onto both the new headliner and mold, wait a minute or so until it becomes tacky, and lay the headliner down.
